I know an individual who possesses a ring found in the tomb of a saint and
several of the bones found in the sarchophagus. The provenance
documentation is irrefutable. What would be the value of such items, or is
it impossible to put a value on something like this? I know that there are
relics all across Europe in various churches and was wondering what such
items would bring if it were legal to auction them?
Does anyone have any other opinions on this subject?

[He/She] should return the stolen materials, apologize to the church(s) [he/she] stole from, and throw [him/her]self on the mercy of the court in the jurisdiction(s) in which [he/she] committed [his/her] unconscionable crime(s). Then [he/she] should pay the fine, and do the time, to the last second.

This is the vilest thing I've heard in a very long time, the crap that goes on here on a regular basis notwithstanding.

My opinion is that there is a special circle of Hell reserved for people like [him/her]. My further opinion is that [he/she] should do all [he/she] can to make sure [he/she] don't go there by doing the right thing.

amen. ;-)

OK, fair comment.

'I know a guy,' however, is usually code for 'I did this, but I don't want to get busted.'

But there's always the chance that _this_ guy is only a cynical bystander, with a prurient interest in what this other guy's haul would bring on the block. You know, sort of like what it might be like to rape a movie star, if rape were legal.

That's a different circle of Hell. But Hell nonetheless.
