theroyalsocietyofbritishexploration has been selling what he claims to be
a hoard of coins from the Romano-British Wroxeter site -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BAGS-OF-1000-ROMAN-COINS-198-250AD_W0QQitemZ8367246199QQcategoryZ4734QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The claim is that the coins are being sold by"The Royal Society of British
Exploration est 1781 A museum founded by The Earl of Oxbridge"
There is no such Royal Society, no such museum, no Earl of Oxbridge. There
are several pages of listings on Google for this seller, he's obviously
committing fraud in a big way.
If the hoard is real (which I doubt given everything else), he's breaking
the law by trying to sell an unreported hoard.
Can anything be done about this?
He has also been dealing as
the*metal*detectorist 29-Sep-05 28-Nov-05
canterburycoins 04-Aug-05 29-Sep-05
4598jason 23-Feb-05 04-Aug-05
I wonder how long this ID will last.
