As anyone working in public archaeology can
tell you, there is a persistent rumor that there
is evidence--suppressed evidence of course--
that the Native American mounds of Wisconsin,
Minnesota, and Iowa were built by Vikings.

Hopefully, these days, the archaeologists who recovered the skull
from
the mound would have identified the evidence of relatively recent
disturbance of the mound where the horse skull was found. Is it to
be
expected that the tampering should have been identified when the
site
was excavated in 1935?

one of the sites were excavated the other year. That one was very
interesting because not only were the mound itself excavated but also
the
surroundings. The 'road' in between and the archaeologic structure
reminds
almost completely with mounds and an area between Vreta Kloster and
Kaga.
The drawings and photos 'Doc' sent me were excellent. So was the
preliminary
documentation.

So you conclude the North American mound was built by people from
Östergötland?

Poor native Americans. They never knew anything till the Norse arrived.
