There's a UNESCO World Heritage site there, Heart of Neolithic Orkney.
I
thought everyone here might have heard of the houses at Skara Brae,
and of
course Maeshowe, about 5000 years old. And of course the Ring of
Brodgar,
but that isn't as famous.

Amazing how these sites were there so long ago. Was the climate warmer
when they were built?

I know about Skara Brae, BUT is it really the oldest remain of a site? For
me it seems as if it's the same as if from nothing a full house with
chimney
would have been built somewhere on the European mainland. In other words.
What I am after is there must, or is likely to have been, earlier stages
before Skara Brae and that's what I was asking about.
