Really, check first, then answer.
I am not interested to check, but as soon as
I meet someone like that, he is gone forever.
Fine.
Killfile him now.
I never killfile on command.
That was a suggestion, not a command.
As was my suggestion that you check up his history, so that you
won't have to rely on my point of view.
<snip>
My point.
Anyone sane has killfiled the bitch.
Except for Doug and Tom and you.
Don't tell me we are insane.
Well, conversing with someone who hasn't learned a single thing in 10 years makes you at least peculiar.
See below
<snip>No, he decided that European and ScandenaveanYes, and I'm still amused by it.
archaeology is Eurocentrism and racism.
He hasn't answered my post re. classes yet ...
Note for Phil :
I'm mostly interested in European Archaeology because
I live there and like to know where I came from.
The sheer volume of data from excavations pretty much takes
up all the time I can spare for Archaeology.
No racism involved.
Your fascination lies with the Japanese Archaeology.
Are you a racist for that ?
<snip>
Don't blame her for her unhappy life,
blame her for her behaviour here.
If someone talks about "my students" or "I have studied History" and
smears people like IEJ does, it is necessary to point out that she is
a little religious bitch who got kicked out of school.
And lives on the dole.
A complete failure, IOW.
As I said, you can blame her for smearing people
here and for lying or bragging, but not for being
unfortunate in her private life.
Do you think she enjoys it to be crippled and to be
forced to live from social benefits?
<snip>
As an aside :
Doug Weller seldom posts here nowadays.
His constant "Oooh, Inger, did you mean Y by saying Z" has helped
to destroy this forum for now.
Now that he has helped to ruin it, he has gone to greener meadows.
His friendly attitude did not work, but I disagree
with you that it was destructive.
It was. Doug _had_ a good name. Being nice to kooks
didn't help it.
Many regular posters here left in disgust.
I'm just hanging on on the skin of my teeth.
I don't believe that is because people are nice to Inger cs. When I came here I was a dissapointed
because people were /not/ nice (e.g. to inger) and
the archaeological content was not what I had
expected. I can imagine that combination is a
reason for people with a serious interest in
archaeology to leave the group.
Apart from joining the wolf pack, I did my best to
add some archaeology to this group (c 140 new
subjects in 19 months).
<snip>
Philip's insane crusade was (/is) not about
reading the archieves, and I am not interested
in what Philip believes or not.
Philip has recognized one thing which you haven't :
If you treat a kook like a sane poster, you'll destroy the group.
As Doug Weller has helped to do.
There is a difference between threating a kook seriously
and taking a kook seriously.
NOT for newcomers to the group.
Imagine :
I'm studying Archaeology. Then I find a Usenet group dedicated to that topic.
I'm happy ! I subscribe !
Then I read the insane rants of Deppo and IEJ and see
Doug & Cie replying politely.
UNSUBSCRIBE.
You get the picture ?
Imagine :
I find a Usenet group dedicated to archaeology.
Then I read the postings of IEJ and note that
nobody argues with her.
So what she writes is to be taken seriously
or this group is not to be taken seriously.
You get the picture?
As I said to Phil the other day, but what
was ignored by him:
" 'Arguing with' Inger about archaeology
is still talking about archaeology."
Of course it is all lost on her, but that is
no reason not to argue.
That Phil was over the top, is true, too.
I wouldn't call his crusade "insane".
"Misguided" or "over the top" come to mind.
I think that Phil has the potential to shorten his posts and make
them more onTopic.
I doubt he has the potential. He tried once and gave
up after ten lines.
Not really.
If he starts to recognize his limits, he'll come around.
Maybe I should start posting about genetics ? :)
Yeah, and he about European archaeology.
That would be real fun.
When I've asked him, he tried to explain.
Tried is the word.
Oh, as one who went to a Technical University,
I'm starting to get his gist.
He's just not very good at tuning down to laypersons.
Why should I help Dietiker?
Because correcting a myopic view is better than another flamewar ?
And more productive ?
I am not interested in another flamewar.
I am not interested in any flamewar.
And I am not interested in helping someone who is
only interested in himself.
