This is exactly the situation with the Newport Tower. Within 20 yards
of the NT we have an area of soil disturbance for which there is no
known explanation. Certainly no building on that site is known to be
described in any of the surviving records. It is reasonable to
conclude that whatever caused that disturbance may have occurred in
the early history of Newport. I don't know whether the site is
relevant to Newport Tower, but I don't know that it is not relevant.

But you don't even know if there is something
and if so, whether it is natural or unnatural.
So how can you say that is is caused by soil
distubance?
Think about the possibilitue that it are the traces
of an earlier excavation.

There are no known excavations which have been carried out in that
area. If all it is is an old excavation site one has to wonder if that
is a sufficient explanation for the failure of trees to grow in the
area. Apart from that, you could be right. But then of course, you
could be wrong.

Failure to investigate that site leaves a potential doubt hanging over
the head of whatever conclusion might be reached about the origins of
the Newport Tower.

So what? There ar millions of digs ending like that.

But few so simply resolved.

That's why on this occasion when funds,
investigators, and permits all seem to be available, I would be
disappointed if that area was not investigated even in the most
rudimentary fashion.

In short, failure to investigate that area leaves my curiousity
unsatisfied.

So they have to einvestigate everything what comes up
in a somebodies mind, only to satisfy /your/ curiosity?

Pleaase note, I have never been discussing *everything* but only the
particular site. Apart from that, do you want them to ignore it only
because /you/ are not interested?
