Wineland 1050 on Honen Runestone

The so called Honen rune-stone in Ringerike can be disputed for many
reasons. At first sight it seems unlikely that a memorial stone over people
dying at sea close to Vinland/Wineland could be found in Ringrike and also
that 1050 should be the date on a stone.

* BUT in the light of when the Greenlandic delegates came to Hamburg Bremen,
before end of 1052 AD, and that they must have had knowledge at least of
Leif Eriksson?s finding of ship-crew and also about the time when one of the
ships visiting Vinland got ship-wreck and part of the crew ending up in
Ireland. (that one we discussed in group before).

* And if Sophus Bugge who is said to have read Wineland and 1050 on the
?memorial-stone? was correct, the time 1050 AD definitely is interesting
since it?s likely around that year the Greenlandic delegates passed Norway
on their way to Hamburg Bremen.

So 1050 as Sophus read from the text on the Honen stone, is a very
interesting year given that Adam in his work speaks of representants from
Greenland and Iceland begging Archbishop Adalbert of Hamburg-Bremen to send
them Bishops of their own. That doesn?t make the runestone genuine and there
is still much to discuss re. the runestone, but facts which Sophus Bugge
didn?t refer to gives at least credibility to the possibility of the
runestone being genuine.
