There are other problems. The dimensions of masonry and
wooden structures can change with time. Walls subside,
roof sag that sort of thing. Besides from my experience
modern builders measure length by the number of bricks in
a row not to the nearest inch.
That's because the 'module' system enetered architectural design about
50 years ago. The dimensions of bricks are designed to fit modules. So
are wall panels, room sizes etc etc.
