Oh dear. And just to remind people again, we know now that it was built
a windmill, the documentation was found.
And we know that for all practical purposes it is circular.
That reminds me of another matter. As far as I can tell, Holand does not say
how he made sure that he was measuring the true diameter of the top of the
Newport Tower, rather than a near-diametrical chord. I know how I would have
done it, but does anybody have either
a) any background on how Holand did it, or
b) any other set of measurements which does explain its methodology in
detail, or
c) a true vertical aerial photo from which we can make our own measurements
?
