I can't recall, are you defining Celtic as speaking a Celtic
language?

That's one definition of Celtic. It's the modern, simple definition. I
define Celtic as being a part of Celtic culture that includes art,
law,
language, traditions, customs, dress and religion.

Which is fine if you are looking at modern times, as you go further
back
it becomes less useful. Once you get back 2000 years or so it is not a
lot
of help.

In any case, I see no reason to think there was a 'Celtiberian'
invasion
or whatever at the time Kirby is suggesting (with no evidence).

I agree with your assessment of the "Celtiberian" invasion during this
period of time. The archaeological records don't support such a thing
happening in Britain or Ireland at that time. IIRC an influx of people
into the British Isles from Spain is more like 8000 years BP or so.
There were marked periods of cultural change in the archaeological
records for Ireland beginning in the 2800-3200 years BP timeframe.
Improvements in metalworking and changes in art are seen in that
timeframe. Where these changes originated would be a great study because
that is the timeframe that Irish traditions indicate that invaders came
from Spain to Ireland. I doubt seriously that the DNA evidence is there
to support a huge invasion of tribes and people however.
