As you note, men preferred aristocratic women whose skin was lite.
Ironically, consider the Nordic women, among the most liberated on the
planet, and the thing they all want every summer is a nice tan. And if
they come back from Jamaica in January wearing one, all the better.

Its not my fault that so many dark skinned cultures are so
inegalitarian that they dont respect women who work outside.
Nor that they keep what they regard as their own women inside like
breeding stock. In sharp contrast to Northern European women who
always valued the freedom of being outside.

Racism arises out of mysogeny, It has always been about controlling
the access of outsider men to what they think is their women.
Matriarchic cultures dont work that way. JP Mallory, "In Search of the
Indo-Europeans" says the Aryans were not conquerers, but assimilators.
The DNA seems to bear this out. Sykes, "The Seven Daughters of Eve"
reports that there are only 7 Native European mtDNA lines, 9 if you
count a couple found in Finland. But over 60 Y chromosome lines.

Primitive tribes routinely killed any strange men they found; the
primitive women of Europe added them to the gene pool... That is, if,
after they got to know them, they liked what they saw. Tacitus, for
one, reports the Celt rebutting the charge of wantonness with:"Well,
we Celts consort with the best of men in public, whereas you Roman
wives do so in secret with the most vile." If you iterate this
attitude for millennia, you can see how it would affect the
distribution of character among Native European men.

But when men are in charge of the mating, stupid young obedient bimbos
are preferred. The most mysogenistic cultures are the most backward
because they view the womb as only the room for their seed to grow.
The mysogeny of Gypsie and Saami culture is the same as that we see in
American minorities, with the same high rates of crime, drug abuse,
alcoholism, & violence with the same low rates of education and
income... along with trouble with authority figures, an ostentatious
wardrobe, and what we'd call a 'barrio swagger'. Only, they are as
white as I am. The diff? They did not evolve as yeoman, but nomads,
with the same mysogeny seen in other dark skinned nomads.

Gibbon reports that in the Roman era, the "Sitonnes" were ruled by
women. The Sitonnes are the ancestors of the Swedes. I was born on a
Minn. farm in 1939, and worked out in the fields with these bronzed
Northern European women. They dont take the same kind of schitt that
Islamic women have to. They have been empowered to demand more
character and responsibility in their men, and after millennia, its
resulted in men who are more able to cooperate, who have less of the
"too many chiefs & not enough indians" we see in so many other
cultures.

The men in other cultures sense this strength in Nordic women, who
therefore are the ideal trophy bride in all other cultures. All over
the world powerful men leave the control of resources to these women
in their estates, and thus a global class of Uberwench is evolving
that will have a much more realistic understanding of genetic
endowment and challenges.
