Re: Barbara Thiering Refuted!

None of the articles you reference contains the information
asked for. Let me explain it once again; we are seeking
an explanation of Barbara Thiering's "pesher method" that
is good enough to allow someone -- any person at all, you
get to specify the person's qualifications -- to replicate
what Barbara Thiering did in
which was to start with this passage from the Bible:

"And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and
John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves;
and he was transfigured before them, and his garments became
glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could
bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses;
and they were talking to Jesus. And Peter said to Jesus,
'Master, it is well that we are here; let us make three
booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.'
For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly
afraid. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out
of the cloud, 'This is my beloved Son; listen to him.' And
suddenly looking around they no longer saw anyone with
them but Jesus only." -Mark, Chapter 9, verses 2-8

....and somehow come to the conclusion that it *really* means:

"On a Day of Atonement, the day when only the high priest
could enter into the Holy of Holies, Jesus, a mere layman,
seized the high priest's vestments, dressed himself in
them, and proceeded to carry out the atonement ritual as
if he were the high priest."

*NOBODY* except Barbara Thiering has ever came to the conclusion
about Mark, Chapter 9 that Barbara Thiering did. Is it so very
unreasonable to enquire as to what the basis for such a reading
might be?

Do you have any idea how crazy the above sounds? Jesus -- a total
outsider with no no priestly credentials -- managed to overcome
all the priests and temple guards, strip the high priest naked,
violat the inner sanctum, and then they *let him go*, alloweding
him and his disciples to continue their activities unmolested.
All without any written record of such an amazing occurance surviving.

Face facts. It didn't happen. Thiering doesn't have a "pesher
method." She simply posts whatever she imagines and suckers like
you accept what she says on blind faith.
