Hell, I just had a long message eaten by Google and so this time
just a short observation about the article "The 13 Crystal
Skulls" - it should be just 11 Crystal Skulls, because when we
put two and two together, they become, well, two.
Unfortunately, the article mixes quotes from sources somewhat
uncritically.
Interestingly, the article is crap. The skulls that have been
rigorously examined are modern, last ~150 years or less, and made
in Germany or thereabouts.
This is a hoary old hoax; but it is fun, isn't it, to read about.
The British Museum is still not sure of the date of the one they
own.
+A documentary about the Mitchell-Hedges skull suggested that it
+probably was bought by Mitchell-Hedges in Europe. During
+the times of Caliostro etc., supposedly many such skulls were
+floating around in Europe for mystical purposes.

And in fact:
the artifact, which does show evidence of tool work, resembles
rock-crystal skulls made by the Aztecs as a symbol of death. Not
only is there no proof Miss Mitchell-Hedges was at Lubaantun but
documentary evidence proves her father simply bought the item at a
Sotheby's sale. And
there is no scientific evidence that the famous skull has properties
different from other crystalline quartz. (See Joe Nickell with John
F. Fischer, Secrets of the Supernatural,
Amherst, N.Y.: Prometheus Books, 1988, pp. 29-46.)
I'm sure you know "none of the crystal skulls can be traced
before the end of the last century,
One was mentioned back in 19th century being found in a cave.
Don't remember which late explorer who found it during a visit in a
rainforrest/djungle in South America. It's a long time since I read
it and it was in one of my own parents older books. Unfortunatly
it's no use asking them in which.
doubt that they remember and anyhow they are blind so they can't
look for themselves.
Real nice prime source reference material this is.
And Inger can't read herself of course.
