Dear
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new website dedicated to
the Conservation of Cultural Heritage: http://www.e-conservationline.com/.
The website was created for the publication of a new magazine,
"e_conservation, the online magazine" which is entirely dedicated to
all the professionals involved in the conservation-restoration of
cultural heritage, namely conservators, archaeologists, historians,
biologists, chemists, etc. The publication is committed to encourage
the exchange of ideas, experience and knowledge dissemination among
professionals, providing the latest relevant information in the field.
The first issue of the magazine will be available on the website from
September / October 2007 in digital format and will be free to
download.
Aims and Scope
Our aim is to promote development in conservation by offering free
access to information. We want to facilitate the international
awareness of local interesting projects from all over the world which
otherwise could remain limited to a closed circuit. We intend to
publish quality papers in conservation-restoration and related fields,
academic and non-academic articles, reviews, case studies, interviews,
news and events among others.
We seek to maintain standards of high quality of information and
presentation. Scientific articles will be peer-reviewed by an
international scientific committee composed of conservators and
scientists. Therefore e_conservation magazine may share some
characteristics with a scientific journal, but its objectives should
not be confused.
Open Access
Our philosophy is to provide open access to the knowledge and
documentation in the field of conservation. Therefore the magazine
will be available for free, downloadable in our website. In this way
we hope to overcome the geographic and economical limitations of a
paper-based publication.
The website
Besides the magazine, the website offers many features that the
conservation community will be interested in: a calendar of events
with over one hundred conservation-related events worldwide, an online
database with current posts of available jobs and internships, a list
of courses for professionals and many others. The website brings as
well the most recent news in conservation, being permanently updated
by our team.
Call for papers
E_conservation magazine is now open to the submission of papers on a
large range of topics, including but not limited to: conservation and
restoration treatment of works of art, conservation science and
theory, preventive conservation, cultural management, documentation
and ethics.
All interested authors are invited to check the areas of publication
on our website for further details.
Finally, all interested individuals or institutions are welcome to
collaborate within this project.
For any further information or inquiries please visit our website at
