Professor Timothy Darvill and Professor Geoffrey Wainwright,
formerly Head of Archaeology at English Heritage, will expound their
theories further during an open lecture at Bournemouth University on
Thursday 30 November at 5.30pm when the subject will be Beyond
Stonehenge: Carn Menini and the Preseli Bluestones. Admission to the
lecture is free. All are welcome. Pre-booking is recommended by
emailing bulectures@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or by telephoning (01202)
9610933.
I attended that particular lecture and I have to say I their argument was
robust and coherent. I have known Prof. Darvill for some years now and I
have little doubt that there are few arcaheologists who know the Prescelli
area better. As for Prof. Wainwright, his credentials are beyond question.
Whether or not their interpretation of Stonehenge is correct will probably
be impossible to prove but their observations on the exact arrangment of the
stones brought from Prescelli was fascinating and is well worth reading in
their publication.
