Oh- forgot. Varna is the most southern Cucuteni site found that
extends all the way north to Tripolye. Gimbutas shows us Cucuteni
pottery with the world's first plank hulled sailing boats. They would
naturally have made it down to the Cyclades, and brought with them
their own set of icons used to label contents in shipping.
http://www.prehistory.it/fase2/sitovo.htm shows samples of some of the
writing the Cucuteni knew of, that went all the way back to 5000 BC.
None of that has been satisfactorily translated either, The Gradesnica
platter has 4 lines of script. We have one clue, that similar Greek
Platters have been found to serve the sacred bread "Pelanos" during
rituals to Demeter, and likewise inscribed with a prayer.
Likewise, in Minoan, Cycladic, & Cucuteni art, there is a noticable
absence of warlike iconography. Minoan boats are depicted with
battering rams, but you dont need brave warriors for that; cowards can
pull oars just as well. As a result, the warrior class didnt run
Minoan culture. And we see some of the females are depicted with
ponderous breasts and the characteristic under the chin sag of middle
age.
