Did any of the experimental 'artifacts' show several parallel blade-
like flake scars, as is the case with this bit of flint? ISTM that
with relatively random strikes by animals or flowing water, e.g., it
would be highly unlikely that the result would include something as
apparently regular, and with several parallel scars, as is seen in
this item.
I'm inclined to agree with you and my "health warning" was issued with
tongue partially planted in my cheek. I have never seen the experimental
"artifacts" but I am told that several of them were incredibly difficult to
interpret as anything other than hand made.
With regard to the parallel blade-like scars, I think you are right, (but
it's not impossible to get something similar from a flint that might have
received a couple of hefty whacks from a plough... or an excavator's
mattock!).
Incidentally, I thought the parallel scratches across one face were
interesting. I have no idea what they might be but they seem very regular.
