Norman Golb engages in wild theories about
the scrolls but was right
to
insist that Qumran was a military fortress.

So it was, in the second phase of
occupation when it was used by the
zealots, the writers of the War Scroll.

Is there any difference between all these
"Dead Sea Scrolls" and papyri from
Oxyryhnchus and similar places; vis title
deeds, divorce settlements, land surveys.
wills, love & hate letters and least of all
the ramblings of religious schizoids?

Yes.

Why not just invent a better mouse trap and
assist the progression of Homo Sapiens?

Qumran Studies is multi-disciplinary but Qumran Archaeology
is a part of it.

Since the identification of DSS Teacher of Rightouesness as
John the Baptist and DSS Wicked Priest as Jesus Christ has
been demonstrated by Dr. Barbara Thiering -

Christian Origins is in a paradigm shift.

No, David - she hasn't "demonstrated" anything. She's given alot of
personal theory, and outlandish conjecture, but has never conclusively
demonstrated that her beliefs are fact.

And it isn't a paradigm shift if no one knows about it. :-)
