Rough and crude it is, but not necessarily colonial. A number of
people have argued from its general architecture and style that it is
clearly medieval european.

Yep. Or even Chinese, as it is claimed to look like a 13th century Chinese
lighthouse. Of course, the claims don't all match, it is said to be Norse,
Irish, Templar, Portuguese, etc. - all different architectural styles.
