Tom,
I gave a ref where EVERY needed information was in the url, IF Peter A had
taken himself time not only to use
language tools for the first picture.
It's not MY responsibility teaching Peter A how to use the url in order to
find what's in it. Had he tried, he would have had to take more than the few
minuites he as usual believe he needs. Still he hasn't learnt how to get
information from an url. Sad case.

Under an other thread there was a discussion of how people could have
crossed the ice from for example Sibiria to Greenland apr. 4000 years
ago. Due to a short note in the discussion dealing with skii-history I
would like to put forward following:
* Greenland's oldest skii as far as now known is dated to around 1010
AD.
http://www.mnh.si.edu/arctic/html/news.html
please observe the interesting dating of the rug (1425 AD)
* the oldest known skii found and dated was found in Kalvträsk,
Vasterbotten, Sweden in 1924. C14 dated to 5200 BP
http://www.vasterbottensmuseum.se/imuseet/skidmuseet.php
It doesn't say that it is carbon dated
Good God Peter, how about looking a bit more into it. That specific
carbon date we ALSO discussed the other year. I also believe it's
possible for you, if you want to, to find the Professor at Umeå
universitet who short before he got the Professur wrote about this skii
in his homepage. You find all ref you want IF you want to find them that
is!
Your claim, your responsibility to back it up. That's basic 7th grade
scholarly argumentation.
Surprised you didn't know that.
In respect of these information at present lacking the possibility to
find url:s discussed in this matter some years ago, I believe skiing
4000 AD from Sibiria to Greenland over ice might be ruled out until
evidence of the opposite been found if ever. However we also know that
during the period discussed here a large group of people, sometimes
called Ainu same as those who made their way eastward from Ural
mountain, seems to have travelled back and forth from Ural mountain up
via Finland, northern Sweden over to Alta area in Norway. Might it not
be possible that some of them travelled over ice from Norway to
Greenland carrying with them tools from their home-area in western
Siberia close to Ural mountain?
