This "Christian cave" claim, appropriately disseminated by this "David

ongoing controversy about an exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls traveling

apparently been distorted to cater to a Christian audience.

RED FLAG - I followed thru with a recent thread

"Claim for site at Rihab, Jordan to be oldest
church is widely rejected"

Excerpt -
"Pushing the (date) back to the year 70 is very
speculative. (The Jordanians) are desperate to
create church sites (for tourism)," Father
Murphy-O'Connor said. "I would be suspicious
of this sort of hype."

It should be pointed out this nauseating exhibit will soon be opening
at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, which is a state-run
institution -- a fact surely raising some Constitutional concerns with
respect to the separation of church and state. How can such a museum
downplay and exclude the evidence relied on by a major group of
secular-minded, Jewish researchers who reject the old "Essene" theory
of scroll origins? This is a serious issue that should be carefully
examined by major news sources. Instead, we have silence, innuendo,
and catering to religious and financial interests.

If you are interested in discussing the pros and cons
of the Essene Theory of Scroll origins on the merits -

just start a thread and I'll join in.
