Dame Kathleen Kenyon, claimed that Jericho was destroyed in the 16th
century B.C.E. and there was no walled city at Tell es-Sultan for Joshua
to
conquer.

I always have to QUOTE Kenyon because people like you make unsubstantiated
claims about what she says. There was in fact, an LBA town which is proven
by
scarabs in the tombs from the reign of Hatshepsut down to the Amenhotep III.
Now that's where they basically get the dating from, besides LBA pottery
found
in situ. This city had NO WALLS in evidence which is part of Kenyon's
statement
that reaffirms she rejects the 1400 BC theory as well as the Rameses II
Exodus
theory of the fall of Jericho c. 1260 BCE. She rejects BOTH theories and
establishes
her own based on the EVIDENCE that in her opinion, Joshua would have
conquered
the LBA city, though no walls were left remaining c. 1350-1325 BCE. This is
HER
opinion based on the evidence. If you want to contradict HER, that's fine,
but
don't say she never said this. Here are her two quotes, first the one about
no
walls being found:

From "Digging Up Jericho" page 261:

"It is a sad fact that of the town walls of the Late Bronze Age, within
which

period the attack by the Israelites must fall by any dating, not a trace
remains."

Now the one about her dimissal of 1400 and 1260 and how the Israelites
destroyed the city between 1250-1325 BCE!

Kathleen Kenyon: Digging Up Jericho, Jericho and the Coming of the
Israelites, page 262:

"As concerns the date of the destruction of Jericho by the Israelites, all
that can be said is that the latest Bronze Age occupation should, in my
view, be dated to the third quarter of the fourteenth century B.C. This is a
date which suits neither the school of scholars which would date the entry
of the Israelites into Palestine to c. 1400 B.C. nor the school which
prefers a date of c. 1260 B.C."

Now the Biblicalist take on the evidence is that the walls fell down "FLAT"
but the Bible doesn't say what mechanism. Large stones don't fall flat.
The most proximal means of destruction of the stones though is the sound
waves from the trumpet blasts, miraculously transformed into sonic waves
that would break up the stones into sand particles. Remember in the movie,
"Dune" (the original one with MacLaclan and Sting)? They used a device
using sound waves to break stone. So sound destroys stone. It breaks it
up into sand particles. Nephrologists use ESWL (electroshock wave
lithotripsy) to pulverize large kidney stones into tiny sand particles that
can then be flushed from the kidneys without an invasive operation.

So if the Bible is hinting to us that sound waves were used to destroy the
walls, which it does! then the walls would have been destroyed completely,
turned into sand. That would aptly explain the wall remanant lying "flat"
on the ground over which the Israelites ran over into the city.

So you have to look at it from God's point of view. Here are these massive
large stone walls, I'm assumming ashlar stones like at Hazor, built up in an
impressive stone wall around this city, making it impenetrable by any means.
So God knew that sound demolishes stone so he decided to show off a bit
of his physics and destroy the wall using sound. So he had them march
around
the city for seven days and blow the trumpets. Nothing happened, but on the
7th day the walls were pulverized into sand particles falling flat all
around the city.
DESTROYED. That was God's message about the great walls of Jericho. They
would be no more.

The sand, of course, would have long blown away leaving "no trace" of them
ever being there and the proximal cause of massive erosion which is present
at
that level. So the actual archaeological evidence shows the walls were
destroyed
rather than just toppled and since sound waves were involved they would have
been converted to sand. So from the Biblicalist point of view, we would
expect
absolutely no evidence of any walls being left at this level of Jericho and
that is
confirmed by archaeologists. So that's that.

Now. Here is a case where the "evidence" is consistent with that
interpretation
of the destruction of these walls. But because "scientists" don't have room
in
their theory of physical evidence for sound waves and sand, they probably
would
reject this explanation. Which, of course, makes their probative process
incompetent for the task of examining the history of the Jews when it comes
to
some miraculous events.

In the meantime, Akhenaten did convert to monotheism, a very logical
response
to the ten plagues by a monotheistic god. Everybody else generally were
polytheists
and the Israelites stood out as monotheists. What are the odds of a pharaoh
becoming
a montheist the very year we have confirmed the ten plagues and presume it
was from
some other cause? There's just no room for anything other than the obvious.

So while the non-believers make excuses as a defensive mechanism to deny
these things, the Biblicalists and Bible thumpers are delighted that science
and
archaeology, when correctly applied support the FACTS of what happened as
related in the Bible.

I think you should look at Hazor for your dating which most now accept as
destruction by the early Jews.

Thanks, I will look it up. Hazor was occupied by the Jews/Israelites during
the time of
Solomon though, so must have been rebuilt and then became an Israelite city.
Evidence there of six-chambered gates matching those at Megiddo City VA-IVB
and Gezer confirm this. But from the time of the conquering of the Promised
Land to the time of David and Solomon is over 400 years of history.
