Here is a very severe test of the most common form of CA - lateral color.
This is a variation of magnification with color. Go out on some night when
a bright Moon is in the sky. Place the Moon so one edge is almost at the
edge of the field. Look for a color fringe along that edge. Now place the
Moon so it is just coming into the field, and look for a color fringe along
the edge coming into the field.

This is a far more severe test than you are likely to encounter in everyday
use, but it nicely illustrates lateral color. If you have refractive
elements, you are never going to completely eliminate all forms of chromatic
aberration, although you can reduce them to reasonable levels.

Clear skies, Alan
