No, I meant Darken. When you have multiple layers, Photoshop determines how they
will be combined based on a dropdown in the Layers palette. By default this is
Normal, which just means that the topmost layer is shown (no combination, unless
the opacity is less than 100%). Two of the most useful combination modes are
Lighten and Darken, which allow either lighter or darker pixels to float to the
top.
If you stack a series of images of the Sun, each with a small silhouette of
Venus, and use Darken, all of those little Venuses will float to the top since
they are the darkest pixels compared with the Sun pixels on the other layers.
Each Venus will retain its original pixel values, and not end up averaged into
the other layers.
It's hot and muggy here, too. The temperature is 50F, and the humidity is all
the way up to 35%. Miserable.
