Thanks a lot for all of your advice, I have been reading around and my
conclusion and intention have changed thanks to the replies to this
thread and what I've read in others:

1. Start with something not as big (say LX90 will be overkill for a
first telescope), and learn.
2. Forget abour astrophotography for the time being, getting into that
is much more than just attaching the camera.
3. Get some books and get information to learn a bit about the sky,
having a GOTO system is in no way a replacement of at least some basic
knowledge.
4. The watching experience will definitly get improved along the
gaining of knowledge of the sky.
5. If I can find a star party, I definitly should go for it before
making any purchase.
6. And this is my personal tradeoff, get something small/medium to
start with, but not so small that I myself will be willing to change
in a few months (I must consider the possibility that my daughter will
not be hooked into this hobby, and I want to get something considering
that, i.e. it will be just for me), from others recommendations, it
seems to me that a good compromise would be the NexStar 5i.

Thanks a lot, and a small digression: the Internet is really a
wonderful tool to share knowledge worldwide, it is just amazing, and
no less than finding people who are willing to share their
knowledge/experience.
