I'm afraid its looking pretty mandatory. The CPU I was looking at didn't
have a suitable on-board DAC unfortunately. The new (si-labs) one does.
A thermistor bead can be built in the sensing head easily enough.
The whole unit is only a bit bigger than a credit card ! There is an
RS232 connection for extracting data and ugrading the firmware.
The CPU has enough horsepower that it COULD have its own TCP/IP
stack......MkII
