I had similar problems with my Toucam Pro 870(?)Mk1 and hated the damn
thing with a vengeance! It was not even XP compatible!

Later desperately repeated downloading driver updates from Philips
support website only compounded my problems. When they downloaded at
all! I'd badmouth Philips to anyone who would listen! MY XP 'pooter
was jammed with corrupted Philips bundled software that I simply
couldn't get rid off!

A colleague mentioned he was looking for a webcam to play around
with. Just before taking it into work I tried plugging it into my
computer. Just out of curiosity. The "egg" hadn't worked once in more
than a year! I'd even opened it up and tried lifting the board and
then replacing it. All to no avail. I was expecting the usual blank
screen. But it worked perfectly right away! AAarrgghh!

I sold it to him anyway while my luck was still in. He hasn't had a
single problem with it so far and rates it well above the opposition
he had tried first.

I may just buy a ProII. ;-)

BTW: Philips is spelt with one "L". I found it helps when searching
for solutions. :-)
