No, a well executed 3.6" OA reflector should be stiff competition for a well
executed 3.6" APO.

Um, I would hardly call it marginal. A 4" aperture has more than 25% more light
grasp than a 3.6". I notice a significant difference between the two (but, even
4" IMO is still in the "relatively puny" aperture range).

As far as "justifying the cost" goes, that is a very subjective variable to
calculate, and entirely up to the individual making the purchase.
