One percent in total frequency, but since the ratio between notes that
are separated by a half-step is roughly 6 percent, it's not as impressive
as it sounds (!) at first.
The difference between the sidereal day plus 25 octaves and G above middle
C is about 11 cents, where 1 cent is 1 percent of the difference between
G and G sharp. If you use the mean solar day instead of the sidereal day,
the error drops to about 6.5 cents. Close, but hardly startling.
Here's one for you: The Earth and its orbit are not perfectly round; they
are slightly elliptical (well, ellipsoidal in the case of the Earth). Its
greatest diameter is its equatorial, which is 12,756 km. Its greatest
distance from the Sun is its aphelion, which is 152,100,000 km. The Sun,
on the other hand, is almost perfectly spherical. Its diameter is about
1,392,000 km.
Now, 1,392,000 divided by 12,756 gives 109.125. And 152,100,000 divided
by 1,392,000 gives 109.267. Huh? Pretty spooky, no?
Well, no. But it underscores how easy it is to come up with some of this
stuff.
