You may NEED that charge slip to prove you were at the time far
from a crime scene you're accused of being at.
There is in the US for traffic and transit a tracking system of
sorts. It's routinely used in police inquiries. First, the better one
(for tracking you around) is the EZPass for cars. By a small radio
transponder you clock thru toll booths without stopping to toss money
in the basket or hand in tickets. At the end of the month you get a
printout of all the places you clocked thru. The payment is autometic,
like with a debit card. In case of plice inquiry you can be traced
thruout the city -- more like a large part of the Eastern US! -- by
plotting your clockings via the EZPass recods.
This can help you or hurt you, depending on the instant case.
The other is a bit looser but still workable if you paid for it by
CC. It's metroCard for the NYC transit system. Similar fare controls
apply in other transit systems, but I'll stick with NYC for the
example. You buy the card with a credit card. As you clock thru the
turnstiles, you are logged at the central depot. When you depelete the
card of its value, the turnstile locks. So, if the plice can get your
credit card, it can match the MC logs for you.
Same deal; you can be screwed or saved by this information. In
fact, in a certain case of theft last winter, a peson I know was
claimed to be witnessed at the scene. On inquiry it turned out that at
the time he was deep in other part of NYC, proved by having looged in
on a certain bus that runs far from the crime scene.
