A hobby before Astronomy was Autoracing through the Internet. NASCAR,
GPL, Ect.. One league I drove in for a few years has their own Private News
Group Server! The Owner and fellow driver has the server set up for several
racing leagues, each with their own NG. I haven't seen any spam in there in
any way shape or form and from what I understand all it takes is WindowsXP
server and an Internet connection. I suggested doing this with the local
Astronomy club but unfortunately they think Yahoo is the greatest thing
sense sliced bread:-(
There's one solution! set up a private News Group server. All though I
don't know how he keeps the spam off the server.
