Well, a 100mm is $999 and an 80mm is $500. Sounds almost
proportional.
And given the fact the Chinese have driven up the cost of energy
by 80% this year and aluminum by 100% over the last year and a half,
I'm hard pressed to see your equation at work.

So I guess the rumour of Burgess turning out $300 6" ED lens sets is
now false? :)
