Yes, this is my problem which I would like to bypass .... basically I
was wondering if it is possible to have an external upgrade to USB 2.0
which I can plug the webcam into for faster image acquisition.

Again, here I was wondering if I can use the firewire port on my laptop
for the external storage device (which I need anyway) and then have the
webcam feed directly into the external storage devide (presumably using
a USB 2.0 port on the storage device) for immediate transfer.
