I don't think that's possible. The computer is too involved in the whole process
of controlling the camera.

You could add a USB2 adapter (PC Card), or you could get a Firewire interfaced
webcam, or you could get a Firewire video capture device and use a video camera
rather than a webcam. The latter solution would cost you a few hundred dollars
(US) but would also let you use a much higher quality camera than any webcam.
