Halton Arp seemed to do just fine. His views are deprecated, but he
has published plenty of stuff, I think.
However, he seems to have an incomplete perception of statistics, and
has therefore systematically underestimated the a priori likelihood of
some alignments. This was discussed on SAA some number of years ago.
