Hi Wayne,

I do understand what you mean. However when i have my binoculars out
i want them to be ready to use instantly. Sometimes i'll see a bright
meteor and want to check if it left a smoke trail for example. If i
had to remove 4 lens caps each time i'd miss it. Also when hiking
sometimes you have just a second or two to view a bird or animal.
Again, if i had to remove lens caps i might miss it. So whenever i'm
using binoculars the caps are off and the binoculars are around my
neck. I suppose one exception might be if i was hiking in a light
rain i might put on the eyepiece caps to keep water off the eyepieces.
