Mike,
FWIW - I've always been impressed with the Orion 6 and 8 inch Dobs but
I recently viewed with a Hardin Optical 8 inch and found the optics
pretty much equal to the Orions' but the Hardin Dob movement was much,
much smoother than any of the Orions I've used. The owner said the
only modification he made was to put some plastic washers (cut from
milk jugs) around the pivot bolt in the base.
