I wasn't aware that anyone was hiding anything.
The basis of my comment is my own experience with Meade products that I
own, my experience with SCTs in general at star parties, and the
experiences of my friends with SCTs and the many positive postings here
and elsewhere (which greatly outnumber negative ones, at least as far as
the optics are concerned).
IMO, published data on optics is generally not useful, since numbers are
so often in conflict with actual performance at the eyepiece. I prefer
the rely on the opinions of experienced observers and imagers.
