The problem he points out is that finding and developing most
"solutions" requires ready and affordable sources of energy and water,
and a working infrastructure with roads, railways, manufacturing plants,
etc. It takes lots of oil/coal/water and reliable transportation to
build renewable systems or nuclear plants and bring them online.
