What aperture are you building. If you are building a 6 inch or a ten
inch then I can suggest getting a tube from Public Missiles Ltd. T he
Kraft phenolic is very strong and very light weight. The 11.5 inch ID
tube 48 inch long weighs about 104 ounzes(6.5 lbs). This will form a
tube for a ten inch mirror. They alos sell coupler pieces that will
allow the ota tube to extend beyond 48 inches long. Poly eurothane it
or even fiberglass and it should be strong enough to hold a mirror.
They are very straight and very round. I have built refractors with
smaller diameter tubes.
