Well, we can pick nits on what essential may or not mean. The glass by
itself will never be a scope, though I agree it's easy to look at the
glass as the most crucial part. But good glass and skimping on the
rest gets you an Orion ED80. A nice scope, especially for the money,
but not a TV85.

Actually, there are some decent sized piles of rejects there. The time
I was there at any rate. And I don't mean NEAF piles. Rejects, pure
and simple. Don't know what happens to them and didn't ask. Maybe
they get re-branded as Meade's. (joke, there!)
