Newbie- Saturn looks same through scope as with naked eye?

I'm newish to astronomy and tried looking at Saturn last night with my
son's Meade DS 90 or 900 something etc..., He's 10 and thinks he's put
it all together right and lost the manual. I was able to see the moon
very well with lots of detail, craters and stuff. When I went on to
look at Saturn it looks just like it does when I look at the sky with
no telescope. I don't know what to do and feel really stupid but hope
someone can tell me.
Thanks,
Karen Lyon
