An interesting point except that the core information is free to anyone
who monitors the Sun.
Anyone who feels excited by the transit of a large sunspot can post
much the same information that Sam did. Importantly Sam also links to
the service provider. In other words he could have simply mentioned the
spot as a solar observer and ignored the service.
Solar observation is not yet copyrighted but somebody somewhere must be
working with a lawyer to do so. Probably that hifi cable manufacturer
suing everybody's arse for using its common-or-garden name. As long as
nobody mentions giant sunspots we should be be okay though.
