I think most of the views and suggestions are much too pessimestic.
My thoughts are that the discoloration is due to extraction of oil
from your hands or other similar products from the Kleenex and are of
the order of 1 molecule thick. "The oil on water with a drop of soap
effect." Furthermore since the view is a glancing one there may not be
any serious problems when images are viewed as they are in the scope.
For example, can you see the dicoloration when viewed perpendicularly.
