Maybe, maybe not. I prefer to think that being an _environmentalist_ is
logical and sane. An environmentalist need not give up reason (although
they often do, just like those on the other side).
I'll argue for limiting access to wilderness areas. I'll argue for
making damn sure that nuclear power plants are intrinsically safe before
building them. I'll argue for controlling carbon emissions. But I can
also read the detailed safety reports that have been prepared in regards
to the risks in launching RTGs, and easily see that the environmental
threat they pose is extremely small (to the Earth or to Mars).
An intelligent environmentalist is a very different animal than an
enviro-nut. The latter will ultimately cause more harm to the
environment than help.
