You're generalising again Rich! ;-)
I have 3 large windturbines visible from my home. Many more visible
from my "office".
The large ones are always drop-dead gorgeous and an asset to our
beautiful countryside. They might just help to keep it beautiful in the
long run.
I would have thought your "elitist yuppie liberals" would immediately
see the snob value of having windturbines in their view?
Not everone can claim they are so environmental friendly that they
moved to an area with windturbines. Some people are just lucky enough
to have them where they live and work. I could sit and watch them for
hours in the ever changing light.... If I had the time. :-)
