Re: accruate "sundials"

To JTaylor

The axial rotation and orbital motion of the Earth are independent of
each other, the former is independent and constant while the latter is
variable in accordance with Kepler's second law.

Dawn, noon and dusk are consequences of the Earth's independent
axial rotation hence you have to treat it as an independent motion.

As this independent axial rotation is combined with variable orbital
motion, each complete rotation from noon to noon will register
differently hence the Equation of Time correction which equalises the
cause of that asymmetry,Kepler's second law .As previously stated, the
pre-Copernican 24 hour day translates into the Copernican/Keplerian
independent axial rotation at 15 degrees per hour exactly, there is no
external reference for that independent motion.

My turn, why do you believe that the return of a star to the same
position in 23 hours 56 min 04 sec represents the rotation of the Earth
on its axis when it is simply a 4 year and 1 day calendrical average
with little or no astronomical value except for cataloguing.

Your turn to justify the sidereal value and I mean that -
