I do not call it independent,it is independent !,the rotation of the
Earth into and out of its orbital shadow generating terms such as
dawn, noon and dusk is a consequence of an independent motion - rotation
on its axis. The Equation of Time principles use the noon reference
representing the variations in both independent constant axial and
independent variable orbital motions .
JTaylor, the Equation of Time correction represents an equalising of
variations from one noon to the next in order to faciltate the seamless
transition from one 24 hour day to the next and subsequently one
independent rotation as a constant.
This is touching intellectual nadir but it is a nadir cataloguers and
theorists impose on humanity by giving yourselves choices you do not
have.Imagining that the Earth can have two values for rotation through
360 degrees is the stuff of nightmares or cartoons.

Pretend is indeed a correct statement and it was taken to extreme
lengths by relativists in the early 20th century and maintained by
disciples who celebrate the homocentric and anti-astronomy 'every
valid point of the universe is the center' with cataloguers who simply
use wishful thinking to keep all things 'relative' no matter how
inappropriate the material is brought in to achieve the objective of
keeping the Newtonian/relativistic corpse dancing at the expense of
the once noble tradition of astronomy
Newton began this framehopping business as a departure from pure
Copernican/Keplerian heliocentricity using the unethical maneuver of
switching Flamsteed's axial rotational/stellar circumpolar sidereal
equivalency to a geocentric/heliocentric orbital
equivalency, graphically he believed you could swap the position of
Earth and Sun without any astronomical damage occuring -

The is no need to place independent axial rotation in inverted
commas, the Earth has an independent axial rotation
(dawn,noon,dusk,dawn..) but as the reference for this rotation is bound
together with independent variable orbital motion,it is impossible to
visually isolate axial rotation when the Sun is used as a reference
insofar as while axial rotation was taken as a constant, the Earth's
independent orbital motion varies with each rotation - moving less in
orbital motion in June than in Dec.The sidereal justification
attributes an equable .986 deg orbital motion which the Earth have (see
graphic above).
I will tell you what you want to hear, myou can keep your
astrophotography or observing based on the sidereal calendrical average
but you shade off into brute reasoning if you justify the Earth axial
rotation in 23 hours 56 min 04 sec.I cannot imagine that anyone would
stomach living with somebody else's error ( Flamsteed created and
Newton built upon) even when there is no advantage whatsoever to
astronomy .Apparently you can live with an error while most of humanity
can enjoy such things as the relationship between clocks, geometry and
astronomy through the Longitude problem.
