A google newsgroup search shows a URL to a stunning earth based view
taken a number of years ago, that was mentioned in a Mercury topic
thread in which Maurizio took part.

An image taken by some Boston University guys. The original URL
doesnt work, but here is the new one:
http://sirius.bu.edu/planetary/mercury/

It may or may not be the image you remembered, but its a damn good
image either way.
