Copernicus never proposed a theory and neither did the first
heliocentrists ,who affirmed his reasoning ,would have understood it as
a theory.

Anyone today can affirm this by refering to the Earth's orbital motion
against Mars thus inferring heliocentricity whereas 'theoris' are
speculative animals that dilute the impact and power of the reasoning
of the first heliocentrists.

Newton says that retrograde motion is explained away by introducing a
speculative observer on the Sun -

"For to the earth they appear sometimes direct, sometimes stationary,
nay, and sometimes retrograde. But from the sun they are always seen
direct, and to proceed with a motion nearly uniform, that is to say, a
little swifter in the perihelion and a little slower in the aphelion
distances"

Anyone can enjoy the heliocentric experience of the first astronomers
by gauging retrograde motion as a normal consequence of the Earth
taking an faster inner circuit in its orbital motion thus infering
heliocentricity without having to introduce a specualtive notion .

The mantra 'observations support theory' is for those who know no
better and have never experienced their participation in the motions of
a heliocentric system ,this experience seperates an astronomer from an
observer .

The lapse from pure heliocentric reasoning which infers heliocentricity
from the Earth's motions rather than a speculative leap is an awful
abuse of the insights of the first astronomers,you can get away with it
but it will always be a poor substitute and ultimately an insincere and
destructive undertaking.

People admire singers and people who strive to stop injustice on the
backs of people who cannot feed or defend themselves (G8 concerts) but
what can said for this dour and dismal situation where you manage to
present insincerity as an achievement on the backs of the great
astronomers and civilisations stretching back to remote antiquity who
sorted and sifted geometry and astronomy into an exquisite discipline.

Your silence or the convenient mantras must seem like some type of a
perverse achievement but with these mantras,you have managed to turn
astronomy from a fountain into a cistern.
